This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

No more robot readers please!! I teach second grade in a Title 1 school. Sixty-seven % are receiving free or reduced lunch. Most of the parents don't read to their kids at home and so we must do everything we can at school.

Our students have just mastered how to read but read with no expression. They all sound like little emotionless robots. Please help! Money is issue as it is in most schools. Most parents at our schools can't afford lunch for their students let alone help buy necessary things for the classroom.

Students in our class may know how to read but they don't read with expression. Their fluency is so terrible that they are getting lower scores for reading because it takes them so long to finish. This fluency center would be so fun and so helpful for my students. When it's a fun center, they don't even realize that they are learning. The timers would help my students learn to read with fluency at a faster rate. Plus, nothing says fun like using a timer for any second grader!

You can say "No" to robots and say "Yes" to great readers. Please help us turn our reading scores around! We appreciate all that you do.
