Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We are a Title1 school in a high-need community, the unemployment rate is the highest in the nation. Our Students and their parents are in survival mode, and our school is considered At Risk. We are a Severe Learning Disabled Classroom in public school, this program is a new program to our school. and the funds are simply not available for such a purchase.

The only learning that actually occurs in the students' daily lives happens at school. When my students went into the library and were able to interact with the whiteboard with the laptop they were enthused about learning. They were so engaged that they were able to verbally express with details what they were learning. Their ability to orally express their learning had been a huge struggle up until then.

I am asking for a laptop, fortunately I already have a projector to hook up to the laptop. With the new laptop and the projector I already have, I will be able to to display information on a whiteboard for students to learn more interactively. This type of learning lends well to students with severe learning disabilities. The students will learn visually, auditorially, and kinesthetically, reducing their frustration with traditional learning.
