Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first grade teacher in a high-needs community in Nevada.

My students need a big book easel kit and 4 different big books. Our students need to be exposed to many different kinds of reading and writing. My students enjoy reading different kinds of books. We do not have many big books because they are expensive. Big books allow our students to experience different literature. Our big books need a place to be read and stored. We do not have an easel that holds big books and stores them. An easel will help organize our classroom and allow us to read our big books with ease.

The students will be able to use the books during center time on the easel and practice pointing to the words while reading. This will help increase their reading fluency skills.

Your help will ensure that my students are able to practice reading using big books at center time and that they are exposed to different types of literature. Plus the big books and easel will be used continually throughout the year and for years to come!
