"With your donation, static electricity will grab the attention of my students as they learn about key science content. I am an 11/12th grade Physics teacher at a charter school with amazing students from a high-need community.

My students are very interested in learning more about how static electricity works. Although we have been able to use common household items to study it, they would greatly benefit from more spectacular examples and more experience with the topic.

We have requested both student kits and materials for demonstrations (think BIG SPARKS) which make these phenomenon quite visible. For example, Volta's Hailstorm challenges students to explain why small polystyrene balls start jumping up and down when they aren't even touching a source of static electricity.

By donating these materials to our school, you will make it possible for all my students to truly understand static electricity, which will give them a strong base for logical reasoning for the rest of of the year.

My students need 9 static electricity experimentation items such as a discharge electrode, Faraday cage set, and Volta hail storm. The cost of this proposal is $847, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Chevron, robi and Ezra,
Thank you so much for helping my students to learn more about the world around them. Using the electrostatics materials you helped to purchase, my students will be able to delve much more deeply both into the content and the process of science.

They will learn about charges and their interactions, but even more importantly, these materials are the tools they need in order to learn how scientists can formulate and test hypothesis without directly seeing the cause of the phenomenon (since charges are so small). They will be able to participate in numerous demonstrations and experiments in order to sharpen their own observations and inferences leading them to a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Thank you again for your help in improving the tools my students have available to them.

With gratitude,
Mr. V.
