Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Tissues are a flying and the sneezing is impossible to avoid when dust is flying through the air, but with your help I can provide a safe environment for students to learn in! I work in a high-needs public school in New York. The area is a tough place to grow up in and when students come to school they need a clean and safe place to learn!

Can you imagine having to stay home once, twice, three times a week from school because your asthma and/or allergies become so bad? Well, many times my students need to stay home away from what the world has to offer because of their illnesses. The school in which I teach in has very little funds to provide new supplies. Most of the supplies in the school have been worn out and no longer work. The chalkboards have holes in them and are very scratched up which creates more dust when chalk is used on them. Chalkboards need to be done away with and whiteboards need to be brought in!

I am asking for your help to provide a safe environment for my students by helping me to buy a large whiteboard to place over the existing worn out blackboard, as well as individual dry erase boards. By purchasing these products for my students I will be able to open their eyes (in a positive way) to a world of learning. All students will be actively engaged by the bright colors that expo markers can give off. Each student will have an individual dry erase board to use during lessons on the rug. They will be able to follow along with the lessons, as well as, try each problem on their own and ask for help before going back to their seats and doing it on their own. Students will enjoy learning and see it in a whole different light.

You will make it possible for my students to enjoy learning and feel safe while doing it. You will be helping young children understand that learning is possible for all and that they should never let an obstacle stand in their way of achieving success!
