Understanding DNA: Code Of Life

My students need 4 Understanding DNA kits and 7 DNA Necklace kits.

I teach 10th grade biology in an urban area designated as at risk/high need. Special need students are regularly mainstreamed into the regular education classroom.

My district has experienced budget deficits for several years now to the point where getting basic supplies were nonexistent. I frequently buy supplies so my students can have the type of scientific experiences they deserve.

With the 7 DNA necklace kits, students will learn how DNA is contained within cells and how it can be isolated by performing DNA extraction from cheek cells. Once extracted, students will proudly wear their own DNA as necklaces. I need 4 Understanding DNA kits where student pairs will make models to learn about its structure and function.

Students are always fascinated by the study of DNA but are also challenged by it because of the unfamiliar terminology. When students are able to put the terminology with the visual and kinesthetic activities these kits provide, learning is enhanced. Your help will optimize my students learning of DNA concepts.
