Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Makeshift classroom needs a new look! I teach at a high needs, urban Charter school that was formerly a Catholic school. The classroom has curtains for walls as the room was previously used as part of a theater area before our school was formed.

Our theater-turned-classroom is extremely wide which makes seating difficult. Students are typically unable to see the board as we do not have enough space for students to sit further back; instead, they have to sit off to the sides.

With a portable projection screen, we can change the layout of the classroom. Last year, we hung a large piece of butcher paper from the wall-curtain to use as a projection screen, but we would really like a real projection screen! Altering the layout of the room allows the students to feel included in the learning process, rather than left on the outside.

Your support will allow my students to feel a sense of connectedness and belonging in the classroom -- as well as the critical ability to see the board!
