Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach English as a second language to a high-need First through Fifth grade poverty stricken population. An iPOD touch to use with my ESL students in the classroom will not only bring the world into my classroom but also bring my students into the 21st century world.

My students not only do not have access to technology at home they do not even have common school supplies. Giving them the opportunity to use technology through the iPOD as much as possible in my classroom will open up the door to a wealth of information they can gain through the use of technology.

I need an iPOD Touch to teach my students literacy skills, to create engaging lessons from Podcasts and from slide shows, and other innovative technology sources. This resource would be especially helpful for my students with learning disabilities and for my second language learners. I plan to create centers so the children can take turns to work with the iPOD on important literacy skills and to become independent technology learners.

You will make it possible for my ESL students to learn not only English as a second language but how to become a part of the 21st century technology learning village. This will help them grow and become an integral part of our community of the future thanks to you.
