Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I currently teach 7th grade Pre-AP and regular Composition and Literature classes in a high need, low-socioeconomic community. Students range from above level to 3rd and 4th grade reading levels.

In this current economic state, our classes are bursting at the seams and any "extra" monies are a thing of the past especially good reading materials for my students.

I want to build my own classroom library and especially "stock" it with books that children love. I want every student to leave my class this year saying they independently read one (or more!) book that they could not put down. I want them to learn to be life-long readers.

With your generous donations, my kids - some of whom have never visited a library - will have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the written word. Books will be right at their fingertips and I will have a "great" supply to help build their love of learning.
