Kindergartners are Tech Savvy, Too!

"Sometimes we underestimate our littlest scholars. Kindergarten is much more than dress up and nap. Even more astounding is that the little scholars in my classroom achieve the high expectations set for them... despite the low-income, struggling home life they come from.

Whereas I can remember the first time I saw a computer (which was, coincidentally, at my own elementary school) my children cannot remember a way of life not driven by technology. I am continually surprised at the ease and confidence with which my little scholars approach computers and other technology in the classroom. With only 2 computers, we all gather around the little monitors to share streaming videos, literacy programs, emails from volunteers and the like.

Too many little bodies squished together is always a challenge, though. A projector would provide greater access to the technology in our classroom. I could also link the projector up to a Wii remote and create an interactive whiteboard (think: low cost SmartBoard,) and really get my scholars immersed in today's technology.

Your donation will provide a step up in technology access and use in our classroom. With a myriad of possible academic adventures, I can really keep the children challenged. Furthermore, their own tech savvy selves can learn to utilize current technology, better preparing them for the demands of 1st and 2nd grades and beyond.

Kindergartners are ready and eager to embrace today's technology. Don't underestimate what they can do!
