Moms and Dads need help with Kindergarten work, too. Kindergarten has changed a lot in the last 20 years and parents need to be brought back in the loop, particularly the parents in my neighborhood, a high need community. Many of my parents did not have happy, successful relationships with public school. They do not know the lingo and are unlikely to ask for help with their kids. As much as I teach the little ones, I feel responsible for teaching my parents how to support their children. I only have them 6 hours a day, they have them forever. To have a long lasting impact on my class, I need to reach their parents and get them comfortable and involved.
