Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Climb the highest pyramid. Reach for your dreams. I am a sixth grade teacher that believes in the integration of all subjects in order to maximize educational opportunities for my students. I believe that creativity is the way to bring out the best in children and teach them things they will never forget.

I love teaching however sometimes the obstacles seem hard to overcome. Although I will never give up! Unfortunately my style of education needs many supplies. I do buy quite a bit with my own money, however the cost does add up quickly. I am always looking for and so appreciative of any help I can get.

This year as we embark on "Career Day" and the Ancient Egyptian Thematic Unit I plan to create a "Want Ad" section of a Newspaper. First we will read about the Social Pyramid of ancient Egypt and learn about the different positions held by different classes of people. Then each student will be given the opportunity to create their own Classified Ad for the social class they are given. In order to do this they will need the big and small sheets of glitter paper, paint, glue, and glitter. They will use these supplies to create their individual pages. That is why I will need the materials I am asking for. They will write the requirements of the position, paint a visual aid, and decorate their own personal page. The pages will all be bound together and a book will be created, presented, and displayed in class. This book will be an artifact that can stay as a part of the classroom library. The students will learn from and take pride in their work throughout the entire year. I can't imagine anything better.

I truly believe in this project and want you to know that your donations will ensure that my students have the supplies and motivation they need. More importantly, you will make it possible for my students to set out to achieve a goal, succeed at it, and continue to be proud of themselves and their work. Thank you so much!
