A World of Our Own

My students need an LCD projector to view their work as an entire class.

My classroom is a world geography class that lacks some technology that can be beneficial to my students.

When we talk about certain things in world geography such as the physical and human characteristics of a country my students become interested. I would like to take them to the country by taking them on a virtual field trip but I can't because we lack the technology.

We need a LCD projector in our classroom so that my students can take virtual field trips to other countries without leaving the classroom. I often break my students up into groups of twos and assign them a country to research. The groups have to research the country's elements of culture as well as the country's physical characteristics. The groups also have to find pictures that pertain to that country. Once the research is complete the students have to put the information on a Tri fold board and explain it to the class. I think that the students would benefit more if we had a LCD projector and the class created a web quest instead.

With the LCD project the students could view their research as a class and could actual see the pictures and or videos of other countries. They could look at the world virtually instead of just looking at still images on a Tri fold board.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
