I will be teaching two sessions of kindergarten in a high-needs community. I am very excited to teach in this community. The children and families appreciate everything we do for them and their children. I try to make my students' classroom as inviting and comfortable as possible.

For many of our students, Kindergarten is their first classroom experience. As their teacher, I am teaching some of the basic social skills like maintaining "personal space". Much of instructional time is done when the students are at the carpet. Behavior problems do occur during this time and many teachers give seat assignments. Children often forget where their spot is or the tape with their name comes off too easily.

The carpet has spots equally spaced out. I could assign seats (color) or simply ask students to pick a spot. "No messy tape." Children love having their own spot and consistent routines. This carpet is just a small piece of the classroom management routine.

Your generous donation will make it possible for my students learn to manage one aspect of their behavior and teach them the social skills needed in the classroom. A well managed class can experience a great year of learning.
