Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Science is fun at any age, but in third grade it opens up doors to the entire world. As a third grade teacher I absolutely love science time because my students get to witness my enthusiasm at it's most sincere.
There is a tremendous amount of pressure put upon our little third graders these days. They take two TAKS test for the first time and must pass the reading to be promoted to 4th grade. I don't recall third grade being quite so demanding. I have great memories of discovering what makes our world so fascinating. I can still see my drawing of me standing on the Earth. I was trying to grasp the magnitude of its size and the whole idea of Earth in constant motion.
Memories are something we take for granted as adults because we have them. We forget that someone was there making them happen. I hope to be that person for my students, which is why I plan months ahead for all the projects we will be doing all year. It's May right now, but August will be here soon enough and I need to have the art supplies ready to make our world, our Universe come alive.
To create unforgettable moments for all my students, our classroom needs to be supplied with a variety of art supplies. Paint, for the many colors of the rain forest; putty, for the fluid sea life; and poster board to create the many colorful habitats that will fill the hallways.
