Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Students need LIFE in the classroom!!! Providing animal and plant life into the science classroom will make students more engaged in our water unit activities.

I teach 8th grade science and we study a lot of concepts that are difficult for the students to grasp. They enjoy having life in the classroom: plants, animals - anything that adds to their science experience. Having a river tank ecosystem in the classroom will give them an opportunity to see what it is like for a plant or animal living on or in a river.

In order to add basic life to my classroom, I would need a tank and some fish, although the whole ecosystem would be much more interesting to my students.

It is more difficult today to gain the attention of the student and keep them interested in what it is that you are teaching them. If there is anything that can provide a visual for them or an opportunity for them to experience the lesson hands-on, those students tend to do the best. This would be a great addition to my science classroom and be something that would interest my students.
