My classroom library needs a collection of popular character books, including titles from "Encyclopedia Brown", "Cam Jansen" and "Amber Brown" series.

My 60 students are part of a new program designed to address the needs of significantly at-risk students. All are below the 35% on reading, and many are ELL and ESE. This special class is designed to build their confidence and offer opportunities for them to succeed, but funding for resources is still limited.

These children come to school carrying burdens beyond our understanding. Very few have books at home, or anyone to read to them. Many had never had success with reading until they were placed in this class. Now they are devouring books and hungry for more, but there is limited access to the library, so the more books in the room the more chances they have to read.

I've chosen some simple series books that offer characters that these children can relate to and learn from like, Judy Moody, Cam Jansen, Amber Brown and Jigsaw Jones. The stories offer a chance for them to see beyond their limited worlds.

Your donation will put much needed books into their hands. I assure you these books will be read over and over again, hopefully for many years. Through books, my students will find success, joy, and discover they will never be alone again. Thank you!
