Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a music teacher in a middle school in A high-neeed community in the South Bronx.

My students came to me one day with a particular interest in making commercials and writing jingles. From this I thought it would be a wonderful lesson for them to produce, write and film their own commercials and other projects that happen around the school.

In order for this wonderful project to take place, the students would need to have two camcorders available to them.

This project will ultimately lead to other endeavors that will teach students to work as team, foster creativity and hold students accountable for their work. The students will also create Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) that can be played during school presentations. After the main project is completed, they will be able to use the camcorders to film school performances and other projects that arise in the future.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
