Your generosity has made a real difference in our classroom, especially on long instructional days and during state testing. When students first saw the snacks, they were excited and appreciative! It immediately boosted morale and helped them feel supported! \r\n\r\nWe've been using the snacks as a quick \"reset\" during extended periods and testing sessions. Having that small boost of energy helps students refocus, stay engaged, and push through when they start to feel tired. During state exams, in particular, it helped them maintain stamina and do their best work.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these snacks to support students during rigorous lessons and assessments. Your support helps ensure that my students are not only ready to learn, but able to stay focused and confident throughout the day. Thank you for investing in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1772550345200,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-focus-snacks-to-support-learni/9973257/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Focus: Snacks to Support Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burns","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/noelle-burns"},{"teacherId":487698,"projectId":9880855,"letterContent":"The headphones from this project have transformed how my students engage with reading in our classroom. Students use them during independent reading time to listen to audiobooks while following along in their print texts. This supports comprehension, builds vocabulary, and helps students access grade-level content with greater confidence. Having individual headphones allows students to control the pace, pause to reflect, and fully focus without distractions, creating a more inclusive learning environment for all readers in my classroom.\r\n\r\nIt is evident that the use of headphones and audiobooks has made reading feel more engaging and less intimidating, especially for longer or more complex texts such as The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan, which we are currently reading. Hearing the text read aloud with clear pronunciation of complex vocabulary has boosted students' confidence and comprehension, allowing them to contribute more meaningfully to class discussions. Overall, the headphones have helped foster a classroom culture where all students feel capable, supported, and excited about reading.\r\n\r\nAs an added bonus, my students are thrilled to have what they proudly call the nicest headphones in the building. Feeling like the \"cool kids with the nice headphones\" has brought joy, confidence, and excitement into our daily reading routine.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this project possible and for helping create meaningful learning experiences for my students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1764108718379,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-readers-audiobooks-in-ro/9880855/","projectTitle":"Headphones for Readers: Audiobooks in Room 421","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burns","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/noelle-burns"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_515","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":177,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"6.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.8,"schoolId":515,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Intermediate School 229 Dr Roland Patterson on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Intermediate School 229 Dr Roland Patterson","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/is-229-dr-roland-patterson/515"}
