My students need 10 microscopes, with 4 prepared slide sets.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Kim's classroom raised $2,751
This project is fully funded
I am a teacher at a small 250 student school. Most of our children are second language learners and come from low income families. For this reason, fundraising is a challenge every year, and resources are hard to come by.
My 5th grade classroom has always struggled to find the basic needs to supplement our curriculum. Since it is based solely on the english language, it is necessary to adapt the district mandated books to help those who have not mastered the language well enough to understand complex concepts in science, math, and language arts.
Science has always been the one subject every child has loved and yearned for. Unfortunately, we do not have a science lab in our school, so teachers are left to their own devices to make the instructional material interesting and fun. Microscopes are a part of the curriculum and we often read about them in our science books. Through Donors Choose I have been graciously given several to help assist in the lessons. However, we don't have enough for the entire class of 33 students. It is difficult to pair them into groups to share slides and microscopes when they are so excited to learn. You can imagine the struggle it is to share one among many!
Your help will be beneficial to many students over the course of years. I appreciate Donors Choose for their ability to connect generous people with teachers in need. Thank you in advance for considering my request, and thank you for helping Donors Choose come to the aid of teachers all over the United States. You will never know how many you impact with one gracious act.
