My students need up to date hands on learning materials for Social Studies! These include US History Graphic Readers and Make Your Own Maps kits for the US, the World, and Landforms.

I teach 32 5th graders at an inner city Chicago Public School. Our schools population is approximately 97% African American 3% other, with a high poverty rate.

Currently, our Social Studies series is outdated and we do not have the funds to purchase new text books. For this reason, Social Studies is by far the least favorite subject in my class and we need to make it more interesting.

Providing my students with hands-on materials and interesting text will help my students learn to enjoy Social Studies. These These include US History Graphic Readers, Make Your Own Maps kits for the US, the World and Landforms. My students love being able to get their hands dirty and create something they can see.

We really need your help. Learning about our land and Nation should not be a dreaded subject. Our students need to understand our Nations History. Please help me make Social Studies more fun for my students.
