I am a first grade teacher and teach at a Title I school. My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and speak another language at home other than English. My students come from homes that are in need of financial assistance.

My students love to learn about science, but it is very hard to teach science with just a textbook. I want to bring more science into my classroom with hands on manipulatives so that my students can get a personal, up close experience.

The resources I need to give my students an up close experience is a weather tub that shows how to observe and track weather, analyze weather maps and identify different forms of weather. My students also need books to learn about weather and the way seasons change. My students also need a weather station activity center to show them what the earth cycles are, teach them about weather terms and share reading comprehension stories.

With your help, I can give my students a better understanding of how the weather and the seasons change with a hands on approach. This may even give my students the thought to be the next meteorologist.
