Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach two first grade classes in a low income, high need community. We have very limited supplies and reading materials, especially in Science. Help our students become true "Planet Savers".

Our students have been learning about ways to save our natural resources. We learned that the conservation of trees is very important in order to save our planet. Our students became so involved in the topic. They found ways to save trees in class by: recycling paper and writing in front and back of their papers. Now they are called the "Super Planet Savers". Our class is also in need of more nonfiction science books. These types of books will give them the opportunity to learn about other ways to save our planet. Furthermore, it will expand their knowledge, vocabulary, and fluency.

If we are able to have the clearboard kits, then more trees will be saved. It will also give the students the opportunity to actually see how much more paper we can save by using this kit, especially when it is used in both classes.

With your generous assistance,48 students each year will have the opportunity to use the clearboards to become true "Super Planet Savers". Furthermore, the books may help them to one day become great scientist thanks to your help.
