This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am joining the district softball league for girls in an urban area but we do not have the equipment that is needed to participate in the program.
We are allowed to join a softball league in our school district but are not being provided with the equipment that is necessary to play! We have an entire group of girls that have completed the permission slips and want to play but we lack the correct equipment.
We need softball equipment of all types. The only thing that we are being given is the catchers equipment. We have students that can not afford to buy gloves and most certainly can not afford to buy other equipment. The budget crisis makes it difficult to be about to find assistance in facilitating purchasing equipment.
We really would love to be able to have the students participate in a sporting activity. It will help to improve their physical activity, self esteem and ability to work with other people. It is a great opportunity for these girls and it would be a shame that they could not participate in the program because the school district did not assist them in having equipment.
