Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I currently teach sixth grade language arts in a challenging Title I school. Most of my students come to school everyday with challenges that no child should ever have to be faced with. My classroom is filled with children that barely know English, are affiliated with a gang, or faced to be the adult in their household while their single parent works. With all this said and done, it is my job to give them each the power of education.

When my students come into class I am faced with trying to find high interest material that will keep them motivated to learn a new concept. In this day in age my students have to pass high stake state tests. Being a Title I school we do not get as much resources as other schools and people wonder why our students are not performing as well as they could.

I believe that if my students had the same resources as other high performing schools, my students could achieve anything. My students love cool resources that I bring into the classroom and it shows in their work. They get so excited and it is a fantastic feeling that floods the classroom. If they had these flashcards and games I believe that they would understand the concepts better and faster. These games will help to engage my students on various levels and increase their knowledge of inferences, cause and effect, main idea, and elements of fiction.

By donating to my students you will give them the power of education. It will also reassure them that people do care about their ability to succeed. This project will help to push them to all their potential and you can make it possible.
