Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach first graders who are enthusiastic about learning! These low-income students are grateful for the opportunity to learn and excel. Our learning community has high academic expectations and an amazing work ethic.

My "scholars" are from low-income homes and often do not have access to books and learning materials. They are striving to learn to speak English, to read, and to write. My scholars can be at risk of falling behind their higher-income peers.

Students are excited to learn about reading and phonics when they are able to play our Leap Frog Word Launcher Games! Leap Frog Word Launcher helps the students become experts at first grade phonics. I have already purchased the games, but still need two more television sets to plug the games into.

Research shows that first grade reading skills will affect the rest of students' lives and education. Your help can empower these students from low-income homes to go on to be whatever they choose! I am committed to making sure my scholars are able to succeed!
