Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We are a Special Education school that caters primarily to an Autistic and Emotionally Disturbed population. The grades I teach are K - 5th. I am in 10 different classrooms all of which can benefit from the projects I am looking to fund. Due to the financial situation around the country we lost a lot of budget funding and consequently we do not have any money to buy needed hardware.

Our equipment in the school is primarily over 4 years old. We are running on old Apple Hardware with barely any interactive equipment within the school. All the Autistic Classes I teach are unable to host a large smartboard within the classroom.

I need this Mimio Interactive Whiteboard Device because my students do not learn by sitting there and watching the projector on the wall. I need to get them out of their chairs, up to the wall, and interact with the learning. I need them to interact with one another with programs. To learn and have fun using the computer.

These children do not have any chance of being able to interactively learn unless they have this device. We can do virtual science projects, manipulate and create digital media, explore history, enhance reading and math with this device. Without it our options are limited in terms of being able to learn as a class with technology.
