Mrs. T. Lake Cormorant High School
Lake Cormorant, MS Grades 9-12

The yearbook staff is comprised of 14 students who were chosen at the end of last year to be on the staff. These students were recommended by at least 3 of their teachers and also had to complete a questionnaire about why they should be chosen to participate. We are also very excited to have on our staff a foreign exchange student from Japan. These students represent the best of our school and are trusted with certain privileges, such as permission to be in the hallways and classrooms to take pictures, as well as free admission to home games and other events in the official capacity of yearbook staffer.

Production of the “A Year in the Life of….a Gator” yearbook is a very big undertaking. Last year we had over 40 pages, and this year we are adding many more. Our school is going through a lot of growth this year. We have the odd distinction of housing both middle school (7th and 8th graders) and high school (9th and 10th graders) under the same roof. New to our school this year will be our Homecoming Court, Who’s Who and Faculty Favorites; as well as many new sports. We will have a Spanish Club, Art Club, InterAct, Pep Band and two separate choirs. We will have two drama productions, a Miss Delta Princess Pageant, a Woman-less Beauty Revue and many other extra-curricular activities to document. All of this requires the use of digital cameras. The production of the yearbook is all done by computer and online. At this time, the yearbook staff has no cameras for its use. The students are required to bring their own cameras to school. This is a hardship for those who do not own a camera – they either have to borrow one or be assigned duties that do not require picture-taking.

You can’t have a yearbook without photographs. With the purchase a new digital camera for the yearbook/journalism class, staffers will have fair access to a digital camera in order to take pictures for their assigned layouts. Each staffer is assigned 5 pages that they and a partner are responsible for. The staffers are responsible for assembling the photos and the copy (including narrative and interviews) for their assigned pages. If everyone had access to a digital camera, more staffers would be able to take pictures and the yearbook would have a greater diversity in photo spreads.

Your help will ensure the production of a quality yearbook, which will benefit not only our 15 yearbook/journalism staffers, but all 912 students at our school.
