Instead of working only with virtual robots on screens, students build, code, and immediately see the results of their programs in the real world. The robots help make abstract concepts like algorithms, sensors, and debugging concrete and understandable. As students test, revise, and refine their programs, they are developing persistence, problem‑solving skills, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is seeing their programs come to life. When a robot moves, reacts to a sensor, responds to a clap, or follows a path they coded, there's an instant sense of accomplishment. Students love asking \"What if?\" and experimenting with new ideas, even when they don't yet realize they're exploring real‑world engineering concepts. This excitement has increased engagement across the classroom—students are eager to participate, collaborate, and help one another troubleshoot.\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant with technology have really thrived. Some who struggle with traditional academic tasks feel successful building and programming the robots, gaining confidence as they realize they can do this. Different students shine in different areas—some during building, others during coding—and by working as a team, they learn to use their individual strengths together. Other students have stepped into leadership roles, guiding teammates and helping other groups debug their programs.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, students are beginning to see themselves as creators and problem‑solvers, and that impact will last far beyond this project.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make this experience possible.","fullyFundedDate":1766599433694,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-class-bring-stem-to-life-with-r/9835633/","projectTitle":"Help our Class Bring STEM to Life with Robots!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ferracci Snyder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10314933_orig.jpg?crop=221,221,x0,y26&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761101483168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10314933"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_93707","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":974,"numTeachers":61,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":45,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":29.2,"schoolId":93707,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lake Cormorant High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lake Cormorant High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/desoto-co-school-district/lake-cormorant-elementary/93707"}
