Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The school I teach at is in a lower socio-economic area of Los Angeles County. Many of my first graders come from non english speaking backgrounds. Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch and breakfast at school.

My students have a difficult time with the english language and they need many good role models to help them learn to speak and read english. One way for the students to hear good english spoken is by using a listening center in the classroom. Our classrooms are not very large and we do not have extra tables to set up listening centers on or to store the materials needed for the center.

This mobile listening center would make it easier for my students to have access to the listening center on a daily basis. It would also provide an organized way to store all the materials needed for the center. This center could be moved to different locations in the classroom depending on our needs for the day. This way all my students could be able to participate in listening activities to help them learn to read and speak english fluently.

Your support will make it possible for my students to become fluent speakers and readers of english. It will also provide and organized way for us to store our materials. I want to thank you in advance for your support of this project.
