Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading is the key to success in all aspects of life. Right now, students in our urban district do not have an inviting place to pick up a good book and read.
Our young adults have faced challenges we can only imagine as they make their way through high crime, low income and gang infested neighborhoods just to arrive at school. While they are in the building, with your help, we can give them a place to sit in comfort and pick up a book, reading for pleasure for perhaps the first time their lives.
High school students in our urban district have not embraced reading for pleasure. Many are faced with responsibilities to families outside of school that do not give them time to visit a public library. If we can provide them with a destination within the school library where reading for pleasure is indeed a pleasure they will gain a life-long appreciation for reading, the key to success.
With your donation we will provide two comfortable chairs for the library so that students can read in comfort and learn to appreciate the written word.
