Desperately Seeking Knowledge!! I teach 7th grade Science and Social Studies at a rural school in North Carolina. My students are absolutely amazing and eager to learn. They want to see the countries we study...how can they learn about Africa out of a textbook? They need to see the country. They need to watch DNA replication in action, not read about it. Please help them get a better view of their world.

Our school does not have instructional money for an LCD Projector for each classroom. We have a wonderful curriculum with great technology resources but no way to present them to students. The best we can do is a small TV that most of the class cannot see so they lose interest. When we do have an opportunity to use a projector there is a great increase in student participation in class as well as an increase in performance. The kids love watching the countries we study come to life before their eyes. Their curiosity is unbelievable when they can see the things we are talking about. I use Power Point to present information to students, but again, it is very hard to see on the small TV I have so they don't get much out of it. When I am able to show the Power Point using a projector they get interested and want to start making power points themselves.

With an LCD projector my students will have access to resources they will not be able to use without it. They will learn how to present information in an appropriate way which they will most likely need to know in the future. They will move on to 8th grade and High School better prepared than they would if they didn't have the experience.
