Fourth graders in this day and age are so interested in technology and so eager to use it. Unfortunately my students feel deprived because our classroom lacks common technology such as a color printer. The students that attend my school come from predominately high need households. Many of the students in my class don't even have computers at home. My students work very hard each day and deserve to use modern technology and be in touch with the technology age in which they are growing up. My students deserve to see their work come to life with a color photo printer. Each month students write and type essays and stories, yet they cannot be printed out because of the lack of resources. I often take pictures of the students during special lessons, assemblies and performances, and even on school trips, yet most of the time the students never get a chance to see those pictures. If we had a printer in our classroom that had the capacity to print documents in color and also photos, much of the student's work and many memorable school moments could come to life. Students would be able to print their work and show it off to the rest of the school or even bring it home to show Mom and Dad- maybe hang it on the fridge. Photos would celebrate important school days and could be displayed for my students to relive important memories and also to share these times with the rest of the school community. A printer is one of the essentials in this day and age. Please help my class get up to date and help us breathe life into our essays and photos with a color printer.
