My urban students need a collection of 57 Zoobooks on animals such as dolphins, zebras, camels, and butterflies to visualize and study wildlife around the world.
I teach English language learners at every grade level - Kindergarten through fifth grade. We are in an urban community and many of them haven't experienced a trip to the zoo. Often we'll read a book that describes unfamiliar nature and wildlife and this series will help them see photos and learn about animals that live in their world.
Reading is a challenge for most students and English language learners have a greater challenge. They have to learn another language first. Often kids are eager when they are presented with materials that meet their interest.
Zoobooks on animals ranging from zebras to dolphins to camels to butterflies will be used to inspire reading, introduce students to wildlife around them, and to challenge them with research and higher order thinking skills. I am asking for over 40 such books to expose my students to every animal under the sun!
