Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach preschool in a low-income, urban school. My 3-and 4-year-olds are enthusiastic and curious learners and I am trying to build lifelong learners and book lovers.

We have a wonderful unit on neighborhoods and communities that is great for my young learners. However, the books needed to supplement the unit were not provided by the school system. These books include stories about neighborhoods including jobs, people, and buildings in communities. My students will be able to relate to these books because they contain things relevant to their everyday life.

With these books, not only will the students have a better understanding of our unit they will learn the enjoyment of books and begin to become life-long readers.

You can help my students by donating these books so we have a relative and meaningful read-aloud experience for our classroom everyday of the unit. You will be helping these children become book lovers and valuable community members.
