The new school year is going to start in a few weeks and I can't wait to meet my new English Language Learner first graders! While preparing to meet them, I am reflecting what went well last year. Rewarding them with creative play was an awesome idea and I am definitely going to continue this idea this coming school year. One day I bought my son's trains to class for creative play and my students were fighting over to play with them. I was even more shocked that girls wanted to play with the trains too! I heard them having conversations of where they taking the trains too, who is coming along with them and what was even better was that they came up with problems and solutions! What a way to build oral language and community skills! Unfortunately, I had to take the trains back home to my son and couldn't let them continue to explore with the trains. They were so disappointed. Here is where you can help me let their imagination continue to run wild. I need 2 train sets and a storage shelf for easy clean up and easy access to the trains. Remember how you use your imagination during your childhood? Wasn't it fun? You can pass on that creative imagination fun to my students by contributing the train sets and storage shelf to my class. Let their mind run wild!
