Second graders want to know, "Where in the world are we?" I teach second grade at a small school in North Carolina.

Living in a rural area in the mountains of North Carolina, it can be difficult to help children understand that there is a huge world beyond the small area in which we live. Students LOVE geography, and 2nd grade is such a fun year. The kids seem to be extremely eager to research and learn new facts about everything!!

I have found that students love geography and learning about new places. Learning how to read and study maps is such an exciting adventure for young children. Having a large rug showing the continents and oceans would greatly enhance our study of the world! The rug can be used for continent and ocean spelling recognition, geography games, or just to lounge on while enjoying a great book.

Please help me provide my students with this great learning resource. A gift like this will offer years of learning and fun. My students will move on to higher grades with a better understanding of the world around them. Please help make our classroom dreams come true!! Thanks for considering my project.
