Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach high school English in a high-need community. Nearly all of our students are eligible to receive free lunch because they come from low income homes.

I try to create a college-going atmosphere in my classroom. One of the obstacles I face is that my students do not think they can afford college. Many do not even consider themselves equipped to attend, or even apply, to colleges.

Quite simply, I want my students to be successful, and going to college is a great first step in the right direction. That is why I am asking for SAT review books for my classroom. I believe I can teach many standards while at the same time preparing my students for the SAT. The better they do on the SAT, the more likely they can get scholarships to four year universities and be successful adults.

These books will make it possible for my students to study for the SAT. Colleges place a great emphasis on test scores, and since I can't change the system, I try to help my students navigate it. Your help will help a group of deserving kids succeed and hopefully, get college scholarships. Thank you.
