I teach at an inner city middle-school in upstate New York and I have just established a club that broadcasts the daily morning announcements for the school each day over the Internet.

I would like to continue to give the students an experience in broadcasting the daily announcements each day. These dedicated students arrive at school an hour early to prepare each days broadcast. The students are responsible for every aspect of the newscast, from writing the script, confirming all announcements for accuracy, recording the segments and downloading the videos to the computer for editing. After editing, the students upload the final video to the school district's web site for viewing. We began this in January, 2008, and have gotten wonderful reviews. Even the local news station did a news story on us! Recently, our camcorder died and there are no funds to replace it. The wireless microphone we are asking for will help improve the audio portion of the newscast. The 3 digital cameras I am asking for will be used to take pictures at all functions in school. These pictures will be published in our newsletter, which will be a compliment to our daily broadcast.

When we started announcing the daily morning announcements over the Internet, the teachers were given an opportunity to view them at a convenient time with their students, thus eliminating the interruption during first period as in the past. What we need is a Sony HDR-CX7 Memory Stick HD Camcorder. Sony also makes a wireless microphone, the ECMHW1 Bluetooth Wireless Mic, which will give the students added versatility when using the camcorder. I also need 3 Sony DSCW80W Digital Cameras for my news reporters so they can be properly equipped when they report an event at the school.

My school has benefited in getting the daily morning announcements each day via the Internet. The tradition that has been started at my school has been accepted by many other schools in the district. Even the superintendent took the time to let me know what a great step forward this is for the school. I wouldn't be asking for this if my camcorder hadn't died. I hope you can help me continue the fine tradition started at my school.
