Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class is from a diverse, low-income, urban area of southern California. More than 85% of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch.

Students are growing up unaware of current events, politics, world relations, etc. There is very little exposure to the nightly news coming from their homes. Magazines and newspapers sometimes contain inappropriate content for students. They are also constantly above their reading levels. I want to provide something for my students that I know will be safe, easy for them to follow, and full of current events.

Time For Kids is the perfect solution! With Time for Kids, students can learn about important current events in a format that is age appropriate. It will also help in building reading comprehension and fluency skills. They can take the information they learn and do many things with it, but most importantly they will be learning!

You can help make it possible for my students to become better readers and citizens. During this important election year students will be able to learn about our countries government and election process.
