Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination. Living there, you'll be free if you truly wish to be." That's what Willy Wonka told us. I want to prove its truth to my students. It seems that students in our day and age have nearly lost their true imaginations. I want to show my students just how many artists were able to capture that imagination in ways for us to see.

I teach in a low-income district with a high population of English language learners. We have recently begun an art docent program, but only a few classrooms have had volunteers come in. In order to accommodate, I purchased some books from the "Get to Know the World's Greatest Artists" series written by Mike Venezia. These books were a hit, and I hope to gather the rest of the series.

These books will allow my students to not only understand a bit more about general historical timelines, but learn about specific artists and their contributions to the world of creativity.

Your donation will make it possible for my students to continue reading about historical artistic figures. They have been asking for the rest of the series since the start of the year, but I was not aware of DonorsChoose until a short time ago. Your donation will be greatly appreciated!
