I am the teacher of 21 fourth and fifth grade students in a public elementary school in Wisconsin. Around 60% of our students receive free or reduced lunch and we are also a classroom with English Language Learners.

I love to put pictures of my students up around the room to show their classroom jobs or use photos to help with writing assignments. I also would like to have my students start photo journals to help inspire their writing. The use of visuals is a great help for English Language Learners, as well as struggling writers. We are also a school with high mobility. Each of my students have their picture on our job wall and for a new student to come in on their first day and for me to be able to take and print their picture and have them put it up on the wall would make them feel like part of our classroom right away.

I would love to be able to have a digital camera and small printer for my classroom. I always want to take pictures of projects and activities that my students do but never seem have the one digital camera for my school handy. I love to use technology in my classroom but our school doesn't have the resources for technology in each classroom.

Many of my students come from low income families and whenever I am able to use the school's digital camera my students always ask to use it. The fact that it is the digital camera for the entire school means it is for teachers only. Technology is all around us and my students should have the right to use it just like other schools are able to. I would love to have a camera that my students would see as ours and use for writing assignments and other projects.
