Peace, Love, and Self-Regulation: Fund Our Safe Space

Help me give my students the ability to build strong emotional skills and find inner peace by funding our new calming corner, stocked with social-emotional and self-regulation tools, and a new classroom library stocked with social-emotional learning books.

My Project

Our K-5 special education students are incredibly resilient, but they navigate complex emotional and sensory challenges daily within our Title I school community. As a team consisting of a second-year special education teacher and a veteran educator transitioning into the role of Behavior Specialist, we share a classroom dedicated to helping these students thrive. Because our school serves a high-need population, our families often lack access to specialized therapeutic resources outside of school. Our students span from kindergarten through fifth grade, meaning their emotional needs vary greatly. We want to build a comprehensive, multi-tiered calming corner that provides a safe, predictable, and equitable environment where every student can pause, process big emotions, and safely reset.

Your donation will directly fund a versatile space equipped for high-need students of all ages and developmental stages.Sensory & Calming Tools: Soft, flexible seating, weighted items, breathing graphics, and targeted fidget tools will help students de-escalate, manage sensory overload, and regulate their bodies.K-5 Social-Emotional Books: A diverse library of emotional literacy books will help our younger students identify basic feelings, while teaching our older students advanced coping strategies, self-advocacy, and conflict resolution.

In a specialized behavioral environment, emotional regulation is the gateway to academic success. By funding this project, you are bridging the equity gap for Title I students who deserve the highest quality resources to support their mental health. When our students learn to navigate stress, anxiety, and frustration in a healthy way, they can safely return to learning alongside their peers. This project empowers us as educators to implement proactive, life-changing behavioral interventions.
