This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This donation request is for 3 main supplies that support all my art students, through 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Cleaning Wipes to protect your student's health, thick colored paper for sketchbooks, and permanent markers used in several projects in each grade level.

Our hands are what we use to create, to draw, to paint, and sculpt. However all those hands touching different art tools and surfaces leads to to spread of germs and viruses. Sprays are economical, but also airborne, and not something our students should be breathing. By having cleaning wipes the classroom it cuts down on germs while also keeping students from breathing in chemicals.

Second, in an effort to create a sense of equity I do not ask parents to buy a sketchbook or notebook to use in my class. Try as we might, we never can fill one up in the time allowed. So to save on cost we instead we make our own, using colored paper, white copy paper, and brads fasteners. Different Colored paper organizes the sketchbooks by class creating a system to ensure that sketchbooks are not lost. Everyone gets the same sketchbook.

Finally, we use permanent markers in several of our projects through out the year. Our 6th grade uses them in Amate Bark Paintings, and Zentangles. The 7th grade uses them for the Op Art unit and are part of the Silkscreen Printing process. Our 8th grade uses them in the Contour Line Unit with the Sign Language Hand drawing project and the Pop Art Printmaking project.

These supplies are crucial to running the Art Department, and your support in acquiring them is invaluable! Thank you!
