Previously, we did not have enough for some of the larger classes.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this is immensely positive. Because the tuners come with clip on contact microphones, every student can clip the microphone onto their instrument and check their tuning while the entire band plays. Without these, we would have to have every student play individually in order to tune each instrument. The amount of class time this saves - and additional learning it enables - is huge! Additionally, it helps each student learn to tune their instrument on their own and take responsibility for their own intonation.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, each tuner also functions as a metronome, allowing individual students to set a metronome to play along with while they practice seperately. A metronome is one of the most important practice tools, and I strongly encourage each student to practice with one every time they practice. At home, many of them use an app on their phone as a metronome. My students were so excited to receive these materials, and they have enjoyed getting to use them every day! It is hard to describe in words just how much of a difference this new equipment makes.\r\n\r\nNew mallets are the most effective way that we can get a better sound out of all of our keyboard percussion instruments. We are blessed to have a more than sufficient amount of keyboard percussion instruments, and our instruments are in quality condition and well maintained. We are very lucky to have at least one of each main keyboard percussion instrument - marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, and glockenspiel. However, we were severely held back by the mallets we had previously, which had been in use for many years.\r\n\r\nIt has been completely different with the new keyboard mallets. Now that I have had the opportunity to see the percussion students in action with them, I cannot give enough thanks to you. High-quality equipment leads to high-quality sound, and they have been able to consistently create a higher quality sound on keyboard instruments thanks to these new mallets. Your permanent markers have helped 6th graders create designs for their faux stained glass projects and outlined their Amate (bark paper) inspired landscapes, 7th graders create their designs for silkscreen printing, and 8th graders outlining their sign language hands contour line drawing. \r\n\r\nYour donations provided sketchbook making materials that have supported my students through out the entire semester. In the photos is an example of of sketchbooks that are used in all 6 classes across grade levels for sketchbook drawing bell ringers, notes, and brainstorming. \r\n\r\nFinally the disinfecting wipes have been so helpful in cleaning up after classes and keeping down the spread of illness. I have noticed there have been less children out of school and I myself have not caught a cold once. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting my students not only have you supported 175 of my students this semester, but the supplies have been carefully managed and will help support the approximately 180 students that I will teach in the spring semester. These are used to add individualized sentence starters during group discussions, which has helped students feel more confident sharing their ideas. Students enjoy having something just for them, and these labels will also be reused for quick checks, vocabulary practice, and other learning tasks. The colored ink and laminating sheets allow me to print clear, high-quality visuals that can be reused throughout the year, giving students consistent access to readable diagrams, models, and reference materials.\r\n\r\nThe digital clock has helped students become more aware of time and better manage transitions and tasks, building responsibility and focus. Students got to learn about how silkscreen printing is used for high art and in the clothes that we wear. They were practically bouncing when we started the tie dye process. Each student was so thrilled when they pulled the silkscreen off to reveal the design. They were even eager to learn how to use an iron to set the design, because they wanted to take them home so badly. Later, I had so many teachers throughout the school telling me how the kids were showing off the bandanas that they had made in art class. The few that allowed me to borrow them to display for the Connect Night (Mid-term report night) got all kinds of positive reviews from parents. \r\n\r\nAgain, I thank you. Seeing my students succeed and feel successful is a wonderful thing. These instruments cannot be played AT ALL without a working reed. Despite our best efforts at caution, middle school students are known to break a reed every once in a while. And even if they are very careful and do not chip it, reeds should be replaced regularly.\r\n\r\nIt is not only important that students have a working reed, but regular rotation and replacement allows them to consistently play with their best possible sound.
