My Project

I believe that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Throughout the school year, I have the privilege of working with students in our AIG/LIFT program, and while our time together is often focused on learning, problem-solving, creativity, and academic growth, I also want my students to know that they are important simply because they are themselves.

That is why I would love to create a Birthday Box for the students I serve!

When a student has a birthday, I want to be able to pause from our routine and celebrate them with a small birthday surprise, a special treat, a fun birthday item, a pencil or school supply they can enjoy, and a little something that reminds them that their teacher remembered their special day.

For some students, a birthday celebration at school may be one of the few times during the day when they get to be the center of attention in a positive way. I want each child who walks through my classroom door to know, “You are important. You are noticed. You are worth celebrating.”
