Help me give my students SEL books and hands-on resources that will help K–5 students build emotional awareness, self-regulation, coping skills, empathy, and positive relationships through counseling, classroom lessons, and schoolwide social-emotional learning activities.

My Project

This project will help bring social-emotional learning to life for our K–5 students through engaging books and hands-on resources. As an elementary school counselor, I work with students who are developing the skills they need to understand their emotions, manage challenges, build positive relationships, solve problems, and feel confident at school.

The SEL books and resources in this project will be used during individual and small-group counseling, classroom SEL lessons, and schoolwide student support activities.

Books will provide students with relatable characters and situations that help them recognize their own feelings and experiences, while the hands-on materials will give them opportunities to practice coping strategies, emotional regulation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

These resources will help create a welcoming counseling environment where students feel comfortable talking about their emotions and learning new ways to navigate challenges. They will also allow me to provide developmentally appropriate SEL activities for students across kindergarten through fifth grade.

Most importantly, these materials will help us support the whole child. When students have the tools to understand and manage their emotions, develop healthy relationships, and work through difficult situations, they are better prepared to engage in learning and experience success at school.

Every book, activity, and resource will provide another opportunity for a student to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
