My Project

As a school social worker, I have the privilege of splitting my time between two schools, with C. Douglas Carter High School being my second school. Carter serves students with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and I want to ensure that I have resources available to meet both their everyday and unique needs.

My project will provide essential and supportive resources that promote students’ comfort, self-regulation, communication, and overall well-being.

The cart includes clothing, underwear, and socks so students have access to clean items when accidents occur. It also includes fidgets and sensory toys to help students self-regulate and meet their sensory needs, as well as an iPad that can be used for educational games, communication, and meaningful interaction with others. These resources will help me create a supportive, comfortable, and engaging environment where every student feels cared for and has the tools they need to thrive..
