The new books and cozy carpet have transformed our reading space into a welcoming literacy corner where students gather for read-alouds, shared reading, and independent exploration. One special moment was watching students settle onto the carpet, books in hand, fully engaged as they listened to a story and eagerly pointed out pictures, characters, and familiar words. The carpet has created a sense of community, while the books have opened the door to imagination, conversation, and a love of reading.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new books and carpet, their reactions were priceless. Their faces lit up with excitement, and many immediately asked if it was \"reading time.\" Students carefully chose books, sat together on the carpet, and showed genuine pride in their new reading space. For some, this was the first time they had experienced such a cozy and inviting place designed just for them, and it made reading feel special, fun, and comforting.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps include using this space daily to build literacy skills, listening comprehension, and communication. Students will continue exploring stories through guided lessons, interactive discussions, and independent book time, helping them strengthen vocabulary and a love for books. This project has not only enhanced our current lessons but has also created a lasting foundation for meaningful reading experiences. Thank you for helping us turn reading into an adventure that our students look forward to every day.","fullyFundedDate":1746482414671,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-reading-rainbow-to-life/9123062/","projectTitle":"Bringing Reading Rainbow to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9928057_orig.jpg?crop=399,399,x0,y90&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745434432437","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9928057"},{"teacherId":258539,"projectId":9616013,"letterContent":"You are so appreciated! While many donors may think of technology only in terms of computers or tablets, in our classroom the laminating machines and hands-on materials are powerful tools for helping students practice real-world tasks in ways that are durable, engaging, and accessible. With laminated visuals, schedules, and activity boards, students can interact with materials daily without them wearing out, which provides consistency and structure that is so important for their success.\r\n\r\nOur students are most excited about the hands-on learning opportunities these materials make possible. Instead of simply hearing about a concept, they are able to physically manipulate, match, and sort items, which makes abstract ideas more concrete. One student in particular previously struggled with staying on task, but with the laminated supports, they are able to complete activities with minimal prompting. This not only increases their confidence but also helps them build the skills they will need for everyday life. These resources are allowing our students to experience hands-on success in ways that will carry over far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1752861848606,"projectUrl":"project/from-supplies-to-success/9350510/","projectTitle":"From Supplies to Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8956553_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1676686587485","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8956553"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1476","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":74,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":35,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":"1.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.7,"schoolId":1476,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carter High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carter High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/winston-salem-forsyth-county-schools/carter-high-school/1476"}
