My Project

My students are extraordinary, resilient young innovators. Located in a low-income community near Fort Bragg, our school serves a diverse, minority-rich population of bright minds who are hungry for hands-on STEM opportunities. We are proud to host the only FIRST Robotics team in our entire county. Despite being a new program operating with extremely limited funding, my students have already proved what they are capable of with sheer determination. In our very first season, against all odds, we won a regional competition, and this past year, we advanced all the way to the state championship!

My goal for this project is to provide our robotics team with a dedicated, high-performance laptop capable of running the complex software, driver stations, and programming suites required for FIRST Robotics competitions.

Currently, our lack of updated technology creates a major bottleneck during build sessions and events. With a reliable laptop, our goal is to empower student coders to write, test, and deploy code seamlessly. This will help give them the technological foundation they need to build on last season's success and return to the championship stage.

Having a dedicated programming laptop will make a transformative difference for my students. Robotics is about more than just building hardware; it teaches computer science, real-time troubleshooting, and iterative design. This laptop will give my students direct, equitable access to industry-standard software engineering tools. Instead of taking turns on outdated equipment or struggling with compatibility issues at competitions, my team will be able to program autonomous routines, debug code on the fly, and run driver controls reliably. You will be directly bridging the technology gap for an incredible group of students who have already proven that with the right tools, they can achieve greatness.
